5 Immune-Boosting Natural Remedies
“HEALTH IS A TREASURE. OF ALL TEMPORAL POSSESSIONS IT IS THE MOST PRECIOUS.” Ellen G. White, Counsels on Diet and Foods.
Herbal remedies have been around for centuries and have been found by many natural healers to be valuable in their immune-boosting and medicinal use.
In this natural remedy video we share with you Modern Manna’s version of an immune-boosting tea, you many know it as Russian penicillin.
Our God-given immune system is so incredibly vital to maintain during this uncertain time of the COVID-19 viral pandemic. Garlic, onion, grapefruit, and ginger all have immune-boosting properties with most showing anti-viral benefits. Garlic and onions are functional foods from the allium family and the phytochemical compounds have several anti-viral functions especially against respiratory viral infections.1-3
In order to maximize the phytochemical potential it is best to chop the garlic before cooking it or eating it raw so the heat-sensitive enzyme alliianse can activate the phytochemical organosulfur compounds. Grapefruit is a low-sugar fruit rich in bioflavonoids and vitamin C-high in antioxidant activity. Liminoid phytochemicals in grapefruit promote the formation of glutathione-S-transferase, a detoxifying enzyme and powerful antioxidant.4-6
Ginger has been shown to have antiviral activity by inhibiting the viral activity and boosting antioxidant status by promoting glutathione S-transferase.7 Horseradish is a cruciferous vegetable which contain powerful detoxifying organosulfur compounds known as isothiocyanates (ITCs). Studied for their ability to remove carcinogens and kill cancer cells, ITCs also exhibit anti-viral properties and stimulate the immune system to attack and kill viruses.8-10
Friends, isn’t it amazing that our Heavenly Father created our immune systems to be a highly coordinated and powerful defense team and the foods He created that help build up that system?
Remember to thank Him every day for the healing gifts He gives us!
“I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” – Psalm 139:14

Directions:
Place all chopped ingredients in a blender and add enough raw, unfiltered, unbleached, undistilled apple cider vinegar to cover the top of the herbs. Blend and pour into an airtight container then top off with more vinegar, filling to the top. You can also finely chop ingredients in a food processor or by hand if desired. Add a piece of parchment or wax paper to the top of the jar so the acid from the vinegar doesn’t break down the metal from the lid.
Make sure to shake the tonic at least once per day. Leave sealed in a dark cool place for at least 14 days, no need to refrigerate. Many recipes say you can leave it for one month. Once it is ready, filter the mixture using clean cheesecloth and enjoy the tonic as a salad dressing, cook with it, or use as a marinade for tofu or vegetables. You can also take 1-2 tablespoons (0.5-1 ounces) per day.
CONTRAINDICATION NOTES:
*Grapefruit can interfere with certain medications so always check with your healthcare provider. Use with caution if taking prescription medications like statin drugs, immunosuppressants, calcium-channel blockers, anti-histamines, hormones, and antiviral medications.
*Garlic has blood thinning properties so always speak to your health care provider (HCP) if you are taking any anticoagulant medications. Garlic may also interact with other heart or blood pressure medications check with your HCP before taking garlic regularly, in high doses, or as a supplement.
HYDROTHERAPY
HYDROTHERAPY TECHNIQUES
WARMING SOCK NECK TREATMENT
Our family has used this remedy many times if we feel the first sign of a sore throat coming on- either a feeling of scratchiness or tickle in the back of the throat.
Materials:
Directions:
Place thin sock in small bowl of ice water and wring out excess water. Another option is to place a small amount of ice chips inside the white cotton sock. Just make sure the ice stays in the sock and rests in front of the throat. Next wrap the thin sock with a thick dry wool sock and secure with a safety pin. Cover with plastic wrap to keep extra heat in and moisture. Keep the wrap in place around the neck and go straight to bed. This treatment can be repeated for the next two days.
